| I've been to the movies 3 times this week! I need to stop going because it's just a terrible experience for me. I can no longer fit in the seat, I start loosing circulation, and I crave the food there, but it makes me sick when I eat it! I am making a commitment--no movies in theaters for a week!
So, what did I see? Prince Caspian. Was it good? I think so. The voices were good. Not enough comic relief, though. I think this was the least favorite book for me.
I am so tired I can barely see...

| Today I learned that my unborn child is intolerant of junk food. I may be intolerant of this. We shall see.
It's memorial day. I didn't do much memorializing. I was seconds away from going to Gary to join those protesting the war of the group I've recently joined. I didn't, however, because of time and gas. There is another protest tomorrow in Crown Point, but once again, gas; I think I will hold out and try to go on Saturday to Valpo. I really do believe something needs to be done about this war, but I'm not sure I'm really the type to stand on a soapbox. I'm going to the group's meeting on the 17th. Perhaps there is a nice blog I can write.
This weekend at garage sales, I bought an old Nintendo for $2. Today, I bought the adapter cord I needed for it to work for $7. I hooked it up and...it worked! I'm excited. I'll be heading to the recycled game shop this week to purchase Mario Brothers Three! I also managed to purchase a host of baby clothes, an original copy of Abbey Road, a Beatles T-shirt, some authentic Indian garments, the novel A Raisin in the Sun, a collection of short stories, a Peter Rabbit diaper bag, and some classic children's literature. Today, I had to put most of that stuff away.
Tonight, we saw Indiana Jones. I have to say I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. This could be because I keep loosing circulation in my legs when I go to movies. Still, I thought the plot and the, shall we say fantastic, aspect of it was a little much.
In the way of life decisions, we're leaning toward living at my grandmother's until we can pay off our credit card debt and then getting a mortgage. This seems most responsible, but I'd rather own my own home as soon as possible!
This is what my week looks like:

| Though we've been back from the UK for two days, this is the first opportunity I've had to write, given that I was so sick after the plane landed. I had feelings of of dizziness and nausea, and a headache that would not go away! I'm feeling much better today, though I think the flight compounded the problem I've been having for the last few months--waking up very early in the morning, long before I need to get up. This wouldn't be such a bad thing, except for the fact that I get so tired in the evenings. I'm can never seem to take naps either.
The trip to the UK was wonderful, and I'm glad that I went. It was the perfect ending to a bit of a controversial college career, and I felt very affirmed in myself. It's always good to end on a positive note. Now that I'm back, I'm not finding it too hard to get back into the swing of things. I spent much of my day writing yesterday, though I felt so sick it was hard to get much accomplished. I'm seeing my flow of writing decrease for the summer, and I'm not too happy about the financial side of that, though it will help me to devote more time to my own projects and creative endeavors.
In addition to the writing and tutoring I do out of my home, I've accepted a job at Dungarvin, which is a company that operates homes for developmentally disabled people. I'm going to be serving in a kind of counselor/manager type position. I'll be helping residents with day to day chores, especially banking, and also helping delegate tasks to my fellow employees, in addition to completing paperwork for the site. I think I'll enjoy the job. I believe I start training on June 3, but that date cannot be secured until I have a background check done. I will be driving out to Valparaiso today to submit the form to the Sheriff's Department.
Aaron is working today, so I will be mostly on my own. I plan to go to the bank, the Sheriff's Department, a garage sale or two, and then head back to Chesterton and the park to do some writing of my own. Of course, I can't start out on any of this until I finish writing for the day. I also have a potential freelance client to call.
On the 20th, I finally finished Jane Eyre, which had taken me some time to read throughout the trip to the UK. It was difficult to read on the bus! I really enjoyed the book, but it was such a love story! If it had been written today, it probably would have been stamped with the word "Harlequin," and Charlotte Bronte certainly has a mind for the fantastic and sublime! The novel also left me pondering why it is seen as almost acceptable for men to have multiple sexual partners before marriage, or multiple marriages, while part of a woman's intrigue is her virginity. Hmmm...
I've started Wuthering Heights, though by started I mean I read the first chapter. Then, I fell asleep in the bathtub.
Aaron remarked quite correctly yesterday that the baby has more clothes than he does. This is about the most accurate picture I can give of how we're doing in preparing for the baby. Yes, she does have a lot of clothes, and soon I am going to need to wash them all! In fact, she has more clothes than I do as well. I'm actually unable to go get something to eat because I have no clothes clean. They are all in the dryer, and I'm waiting for them to finish drying before I can go find some breakfast! Oh well, less is truly more. With the mess that this place is in after the move, I couldn't want more of anything!
Speaking of moving, Aaron and I are hoping to buy a house. It just seems like the right move. Renting is a waste, and the housing market is good. Still, the prospect frightens me. With my three jobs, I just want to wait until Aaron has more solid employment before purchasing. Getting a better job is on his list though, and we hope to see that happen before the month is out. He also starts online classes today--or I should say tonight, as he is working all day today. He's entering the Chicago Open for chess, and he has been practicing like crazy. I hope he brings home an award!
This was certainly a long entry, and I must finish it now to continue writing. I hope you all have a wonderful summer. My open house is this Saturday and my baby shower is June 28. I hope everyone can come. If you can't, I won't be offended. :)

| Well, I graduated about a week ago, and I just thought I'd update to let everyone know how great things are going.
We moved back to Chesterton, which I had some reservations about, but it's 10 times better than Marion, so for now I'm happy. I keep telling everyone I'm basking in the land of enlightenment, good grammar, and an unbiased library (sigh).
I've been keeping very busy with my self-employment--freelance writing, tutoring, and LTD. I've started my own tutoring business now, called Transcendence Tutoring, and I have three students right now. I'm in the middle of doing advertising for more.
Over the past week, I've been trying to decide if I want a second job in addition to my self-employment. I decided that I did, just something that would be part time and fun. I have three job interviews this week. Today, I have an interview with Dungarvin, where I would be working with developmentally disabled people, tomorrow, I have an interview with Dialogue Direct, where I would be doing street fundraising for impoverished children in other countries, and on Thursday, I have an interview with the local YMCA to be a pre-school assistant and summer camp counselor.
Although it's probably the position with the least amount of pay, if I were offered all three I would probably take the YMCA job. It's such a fun place to work! I will wait to see about all the jobs though, hear job descriptions, and hours. I do not want to work full time.
I will be starting teacher certification school in August, hopefully. And I want to begin grad school in September, but I may wait until January.
Aaron is still working doing flooring for now, but he turned in an application at one of the banks in town and at the Library. He turned in some others too, but we'd really like to see him get one of those two jobs, preferably at the library. He's an encyclopedia; that's where he belongs! He is taking 15 hours of online classes this summer and will graduate in August. Woo-hoo!
Well, I have less than an hour before I have to leave for my interview, so I'm going to go try and get some stuff done. Everyone else should update too :) | | |
